A camera obscura is an optical device that led to photography and the camera. The device consists of a box or room with a hole in one side. Light from an external scene passes through the hole and strikes a surface inside, where it is reproduced, rotated 180 degrees (thus upside-down), but with colour and perspective preserved.
In class in order to observe camera obscure we had to completely darken the room. To do this we simply had to stick black A3 paper around all the windows and doors to block out all the light. We then made a very small hole in the middle of the black paper so that a very small amount of light could come in the room. However we did not get to fully experience camera obscure because we could not block all the light out due to bad weather.
Here i was able to play around with light to use its different effects and create different directions of beams of light on the triangular pryamid. In order to achieve this I had to make the room completely dark by closing all the blinds. This enabled me to create this effect. I was given a pyramid and a light and had different coloured transparent papers to use. I was lucky to have gotten two coloured transparent papers and put one in front of the other to create the colour i wanted. My objective was to create a pink beam of light and that I did. I manually used the camera and captured these pictures. As you can see at the top, the first few pictures were just of one straight line. we then were able to create lots of different lines in different directions which showed that light can travel in not just one direction.
THESE PICTURES REPRESENT REFLECTION OF THE ORIGINAL STATIC MODEL THAT I WAS CAPTURING. EXCEPT FOR THE DUCK, IN WHICH I WANTED TO TAKE A PHOTO OF IT AND SHOW THE DETAIL AND TEXTURE OF IT. HERE YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIMENTING THE DIFFERENT ANGLES I WOULD HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE PICTURES IN TO GET THE EFFECT I WANTED FOR THE REFLECTION.
IN ORDER FOR ME TO EXPERIMENT ON THESE PHOTOS I HAD TO CLOSE THE BLINDS AND ANYTHING THAT WAS ALLOWING LIGHT TO COME IN THE ROOM. THIS MEANT THAT I WAS ABLE TO CAPTURE ANGLES OF REFLECTION IN THE BOX IN WHICH THESE MODELS WERE PUT IN.
